David Cornutt

David Cornutt* was born about 1750 or 1755 in Henrico County, and died about 1847 (will probate) in Grayson County, VA. He was married but his wife’s name is unknown and they were married in Henrico County. They lived on Climes Branch, Grayson County, VA where all their children were born. Moved to Big Elk Creek, Montgomery County about 1780 or 1781 and records of Montgomery County showed he served in a company or militia in 1782 and he paid land taxes in 1782.

David and his brother James received land grants in Montgomery County, now Grayson County from Governor Henry Lee (1791- 1794) and from Governor James P. Preston (1816 – 1819), according to a will of 1837, probated in 1847 mentioning their children.

David had 8 Children

Diadema Cornutt about 1789 – Unknown
Reuben Cornutt about 1790 – February 13, 1875

Phoebe or Ferraby about 1795 – Unknown
